Red Dragon Wave & The Beginning of a New Cycle

Welcome to the Red Dragon Wave and the beginning of a new 260-day cycle!

We are living through a time of deep change.

Around us, familiar structures are shifting,
uncertainty has become part of everyday life and many of us can feel that something is changing inside us as well.

The processes taking place in the world around us often reflect processes that are also happening within us.

Things come to an end.
Old structures break down.
Something that was once relevant no longer fits in the same way.

And slowly, from within that space, a new movement begins to emerge.

According to the Mayan Wisdom of Natural Time,

our development moves through different harmonic cycles.

One of the central cycles we work with is the 260-day cycle, made up of twenty waves of thirteen days.

The Red Magnetic Dragon opens this new cycle
and gives us the first direction for the journey ahead.

A new cycle does not necessarily mean that everything suddenly feels new.

Very often, the beginning happens quietly.

Like conception,
the first movement begins deep inside,
long before we can clearly see what is being created.

The initial spark happens in a protected place, in darkness, in softness.

And for something new to develop, it needs the right conditions.

The same is true for us.

Processes begin within us long before they become clear to our conscious mind.

The Dragon Wave brings the first pulses of what is asking to be born during this new cycle.

And before we ask ourselves what we want to create,
achieve or change, the Dragon invites us into a more basic question:

What is nourishing me right now?

The Red Dragon connects us to nourishment, source and birth.

To the body.

To our most basic needs.

To the places inside us that need enough safety,
rest, attention and support in order to grow.

Especially in times of change and uncertainty,
our inner system often needs more maintenance and nourishment.

More rest.
More movement.
More breathing.
More time to digest what we are going through.

More attention to the things that help us feel grounded and alive.

The Dragon Wave can bring us back toward our primary sources of nourishment – our family, our parents, our body, our home and the ways we first learned to receive care.

Sometimes this opens the possibility of looking again at those relationships and understanding more clearly what we received, what may have been missing and how we can continue developing our ability to nourish ourselves today.

People born under the sign of the Red Dragon are often naturally nourishing people.

They tend to care for the people around them
and make sure that basic needs are being taken care of.

And one of the important lessons of the Dragon
is remembering that those who nourish others
also need nourishment themselves.

So during these thirteen days, we can return again and again to a very simple question:

What is happening inside me?

Is there a part of me that needs more attention?

More rest?

More movement?

More space?

Is there something in my physical experience
that I already know could support me,
but I keep postponing?

And what would it mean to actually listen?

The beginning of a new cycle is also an opportunity
to remember that time does not only move in a straight line.

Life moves in cycles.

We return to similar places, themes and questions again and again.
But each time, we meet them from a different point on the spiral.

Instead of asking:

“Why am I here again?”

we can begin asking:

“How am I meeting this now?”

Because returning to something does not necessarily mean that we have gone backwards.

Sometimes it simply means that we have reached another layer.

The Dragon also reminds us that birth takes time.

A new beginning does not always look like fast movement forward.

Sometimes beginning well means slowing down enough to notice what is actually trying to take shape.

There is a difference between healthy slowness and feeling stuck.

So the question is not only how fast we are moving.

The question is:

Is there still movement inside me?

Something can be quiet and still be alive.

Something can take time and still be developing.

And sometimes the most supportive thing we can do at the beginning of a new cycle, is to give the process enough space to become what it needs to become.

This cycle also invites us to remember that endings are part of life.

Birth, growth, decline, completion and re-birth are all part of the same movement.

When we allow ourselves to recognize that something has ended,

we also create more space to meet what is beginning.

So for the coming thirteen days, I invite you to pay attention to four simple movements:

Listen.
Nourish.
Allow.
Choose.

Listen to what is happening inside you.

Nourish what needs your care.

Allow the new process enough time and space.

And choose the next step from the place you are actually standing in now.

We do not need to know exactly where this entire cycle is taking us.

We can begin by learning how we want to meet the next step.
